“A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance” ~ Ecclesiastes 3:4.

Eighteen years ago my family added an addition to our household.  My eldest daughter was two and a half when my sister’s cat had kittens.  She wanted one so bad and at the time the new Disney movie out was Tarzan.  One of the key characters in the move was Tantor, the elephant, and she loved that character so when it came time to name her new kitten she chose Tantore (spelled differently because of a mistake, that ended up just lasting).  (more…)

“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?” ~ Luke 15:4

I was involved with the church choir, singing duets, and solos when I was a teenager but took a long break from singing in public.  I didn’t understand how important it was for me to sing until I was given the opportunity at our church, twenty years after the last time I sang publicly.  I have been singing on our worship team for a couple of years and there have been times when I had no voice unable to sing.  Being a part of the team, at first, was nerve racking because singing a hymnal song is quite different than singing on a worship team.  I felt way out of my comfort zone.

Well Done!

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up” Hebrews 12:1-3. (more…)

“And you know the way where I am going” ~John 14:4.

A month ago I drove down to Las Cruces, New Mexico to take my National Board Exam.  For years I have had major test anxiety.  I had absolutely no problems with classwork, writing 1500 word papers, or answering weekly questions but the minute I saw a quiz or test my chest would constrict and I would have trouble breathing.  This has been my lot in life from a little child til very recently.  (more…)

The Big “C”

“We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance” Romans 5:3.

Today, one of the strongest women I know went in for surgery to have her breasts and some lymph nodes removed.  She is beautiful.  She faces every challenge with great determination.  She has an indescribable joy that blows me away.  Her smile is the most infectious anyone has ever seen.  People flock to her.  She can ALWAYS be counted on.  She is dedicated to serving others with a positive attitude.  Her husband adores her.  Her kids know her value.  She is respected.  Those who meet her go out of their way to show her love.

“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you” I Peter 5:6-7.

Over the years I have heard many myths about what the Bible says.  The one that is my biggest pet peeve is, “God won’t give me more than I can handle.”  WRONG!  (more…)

“Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.  If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-10.

Since I was a little girl my Daddy would take me out on a date for our birthdays.  His was four days away from mine so we made it an annual thing to celebrate together.  There were years that we celebrated by eating at Taco Bell and others were we sat and talked; it was our special time.  Fast forward about thirty plus of those special annual days to the very last time I got to spend my birthday with him.
