“They have ears, but cannot hear, noses, but cannot smell” Psalm 115:6.

This verse cracked me up when I read it.  I have been sick, for about a week, with severe allergies.  I am not sure He meant for this verse to go along with how I was feeling, sickness wise, but it just made me laugh because it is definitely how I was feeling.

I have been doing quite a lot lately, basically working my brain into a frenzy.  It is no secret that I love to learn new things but sometimes I take so much in and just don’t give myself a moment to catch up on rest.  If you are a mom, reading this, you know exactly what I am talking about.   (more…)

“Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and enter His courts with praise!  Give thanks to Him; bless His name” Psalm100:4

I saw a question that said, “what would happen if you woke up one morning only having what you thanked Him for the day before?”  Interesting thought.  I was dumbfounded when I realized that I had only thanked Him for our dinner yesterday.  It definitely wasn’t a good enough meal that I would want only it the rest of my life. “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you” I Peter 5:6-7.

Over the years I have heard many myths about what the Bible says.  The one that is my biggest pet peeve is, “God won’t give me more than I can handle.”  WRONG!  (more…)

Spirit-led Worship

“Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” Colossians 3:16
Back in September, of last year, my husband and I joined a church plant team because of some encouragement from friends.  At first we were skeptical and a little stand-offish since we weren’t real sure what to expect.
Our family has gone through some tough things with churches.  I fully understand that even Christians make mistakes because we are all sinners, by nature, but boy did we see our fair share of mistakes.  We were ignored during our grieving of miscarriages, misused, emotionally abused, gossiped about, accused of wrong-doings, and avoided; not all from the same church. A Difficult Task

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Today I accomplished something I wasn’t sure would have ever been possible.  I have spent about a year writing a book.  My “Work in Progress” has been just that, a work in progress.  I have had days when I thought of giving it up and days when I couldn’t stop writing. (more…)

“Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.  If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-10.

Since I was a little girl my Daddy would take me out on a date for our birthdays.  His was four days away from mine so we made it an annual thing to celebrate together.  There were years that we celebrated by eating at Taco Bell and others were we sat and talked; it was our special time.  Fast forward about thirty plus of those special annual days to the very last time I got to spend my birthday with him. Much Obliged!

“Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe.”  Hebrews 12:28 NASB

A few days ago our country celebrated Thanksgiving, my favorite holiday.  We have several different traditions for that day but one of my favorite is Southern Hospitality.

Not many people open their doors to strangers, those in need and hungry but it has been my policy since I became an adult. (more…)
